Second Step – Exposing Silkscreen Printing Block
This step is very important. Without this step there is nothing u can do. So i’ll shows u all everything i know. All my secret that i myself learn from somebody else – my guru.
First thing you need is film negative.
Image that u print black on a plain paper.
Exposure Table.
500w light (set 35cm from the glass) and a transparent glass.
Put the image on the exposure table.
Adjust it to ur needs.
The secret : Budget savings.
Uses cooking oil to turn the image’s paper into
hand made tracing paper.
Spread the cooking oil evenly.
Put the Printing Block (first step) onto the image.
Adjust to ur needs.
Put a black paper into the printing block.
Put any flat surface object onto the black paper.
I use plywood.
Put on a weight onto the plywood.
After that, Swicth On the spot light.
I use two spot light. Let it expose for 3 minutes.
After 3 minutes. Spray it with tab water.
Wash it untill the image is shown.
Lastly leave the block to dry.
Finished.
Exposure Concept :
- The image will block the ligth to reach the photo coat mesh.
- Because its make shadow on it.The other parts are expose to light directly. Its will become hardened.
- Because the photo emulsion is water-based, its will dissolve when wash by a tab’s water.
- The shadowed part will dissolve and the hardened part will not affected.
- That why u get the finall picture above. u can see through the mesh.
Tips of the day :
- We use the cooking oil – cost effective.
- It’s important to adjust the image to be centre at the printing block. So when u want to print it manually, it’s easy to print the image “centre” on ur tshirt.
- Black paper – to absorb the ligth without reflecting the light back to the image from the top of printing block.
- Plywood – to make the screen mesh touch the image below evenly when put a weight on it.
Enjoy! and see u all next time.

boleh… tak jadik masalah… ade guna lampu UV lg… cuma settingnya saya tak leh nak bagi… memang kena try and error…
pasal jarak nie sebenarnya lebih kepada terang dan tak terang…. lagi dekat lagi la terang…
bila terang masa expose tue pendek la… tapi kalau malap… maka lama lak jadiknya…
saya guna spot light…
saya guna 2 bijik 500w. Spot ligt kuat dah… tapi saya perlukan coverage..
jadi saya tinggikan tempat expose untuk dapatkan coverage yang lbih besar…\
kenapa saya pakai 2 biji sebab kalau satu biji keterangan cahaya tak sekata… sebab kelemahan spot ligth cahaya nya tertumpu di tengah..
Kalau lampu kalimantang memang tempat exposenya dekat… sebab kalau jauh cahaya tak kuat…
tapi rakan saya nie pakai lampu spotlight 1000w bersaiz besar (spotlight bangunan) masa expose nya tak sampai pun seminit…
cepatkan…
ape2 pun ikut la kesesuaian anda. maksud saya yang paling penting ruang anda untuk melakukan expose dan printing…
harap membantu..
